A school council is a group of pupils elected by their fellow pupils to represent their opinions and raise issues with our headteacher and governors in the school. The school council can also take forward projects on behalf of the pupils.
To be effective, the school council must:
Represent all pupils and include as many people as possible
Take time to listen to all pupils and communicate their views
Feed back to pupils about what happened about their views
Make things happen – or explain why they can’t!
Mrs Parker is the link teacher.
The School Council were keen to highlight the excellent behaviour and attitudes of their classmates. They decided to raise money to buy awards to celebrate our school’s Christian Values and present these to an individual each half-term for displaying a certain value in their everyday life. Each recipient is nominated by their class councillors. The School Council understand the responsibility of this decision and take great care with their choices.
The work that teachers give pupils to do is interesting, engaging and exciting. It makes pupils think for themselves, reason things out and become good learners.
