At break time KS1 children use the front playground and the KS2 children use the rear play ground.
At lunchtime classes R, Y1, Y2 will be directed into the hall by the class teachers to line up for their dinner. They will have said the dinnertime prayer in their classroom beforehand. KS2 pupils will be dismissed into the rear playground from where the Welfare staff will bring them into the hall for dinner at the appropriate time to sit, say the dinnertime prayer and be directed to have a school meal or packed lunch.
After register monitors will have taken the class trolley into the hall containing packed lunches for the children to collect at the appropriate time.
If the lunchtime is wet the KS2 pupils will sit in their own classroom supervised by a welfare assistant until they enter the hall, via the main corridor. KS1 children are supervised in their individual classsrooms
At the end of break and lunchtime the teachers on duty will blow a whistle twice, the first whistle is a signal to stop and listen, the second to walk and line up in class groups. A message will have been sent to the other teachers and TA’s who will come to meet their class and walk with them into the classroom.
At break and lunchtimes pupils should only be in the classroom if a teacher is present.
At break pupils are permitted to eat a healthy snack (most bring a snack for morning break). There is also a ‘tuck shop’ run by kitchen staff from the hall where children can buy toast.
Class teachers must ensure that attendance data sheets are correctly completed morning and afternoon, in ink and that the headteacher is informed if any absence gives cause for concern. During the school day pupils are not permitted to leave unless a specific request has been received from parents e.g. doctor or dental appointment. These should be taken outside of school hours if possible.
Mrs Jackson, the school bursar, will ring parents if an absence has not been reported.
The seven classes are single for all key stages.

At the end of the school year, or term as appropriate, timetables and rotas are drawn up in consultation with staff. Copies are then made available to all staff and are displayed in the staffroom. Further copies are available from the Headteacher.
These include:
HALL TIMES, NON-CONTACT TIME, WORSHIP, STAFF PLAYGROUND DUTIES, DAYS, HOURS, DEPLOYMENT OF PART-TIME STAFF.
At the first staff meeting of the school year dates are set for consultation evenings, formal testing, concerts and services, reports to parents and any other similar dates.
All pupils are in one of four houses – LONGRIDGE, BOWLAND, PENDLE, PARLICK.
Each week year 6 merit monitors count up all the merits gained in each class and determine which house team has the most. They announce the results in Monday's worship and allocate a shield to the winning house. At the end of each half term the house with the most shields wins a reward afternoon, which may include a sports coach leading basketball for example or traditional board games in the hall.
Two further awards are selected each half-term These are awarded to the child who has shown the most courtesy to others - adults and children and for those who have demonstrated excellent punctuality over the half-term.
During the last week of each half-term there is a celebration worship when all types of awards are presented - swimming and attendance.
Please refer to the Behaviour Policy and the Positive Behaviour Leaflet in the school policies area under the school documents tab.
Whilst it is essential to care for the health of children, the school has a duty to protect both itself and individual members of staff from litigation. This procedure is intended to balance these responsibilities. The Term “medication” is used in this procedure to mean epi-pens, tablets, medicines or anything of a similar nature essential to a child’s health.
Staff will supervise the taking of prescribed medication, but will not directly give it to any child, except in cases of extreme emergency. If a child refuses to take medication, staff will not force them to do so but will inform the parent or guardian as soon as possible of the refusal. If required, the parent or guardian will be able to visit the school during the day to administer medication in person. As a school we only accept prescription medication, 4 times a day dose (once at school).
All accidents, other than minor falls etc., should be recorded in the book contained in each classroom and those of a more serious nature should be recorded by the Headteacher electronically. Other than for minor falls etc., parents must be notified when an accident occurs.
Children who receive a bump on the head should be closely monitored and given a letter to take home to inform parents.
There are three first aid boxes located on the walls in the staffroom, hall and inner foyer area.
Pupils who are sick or unwell are notified to the office staff or head who will arrange for them to be collected and taken home.
If your child experiences vomiting and/or diarrhoea, we will ask you or your emergency contact to take your child home. They should not return for 48 hours. We appreciate that this is inconvenient in many cases, but you will appreciate that we do this in all cases and it should reduce the risk of infection for all children in school.
A fire drill is printed and given to all members of staff; copies are on prominent display around school. Ensure you are familiar with these procedures and the workings of the fire alarm. Please revise the procedures with the children regularly (at least every half-term).
All school dinners, clubs and trips are bookable/payable through individual School Money accounts, We encourage our families to download the Teachers2Parents app for convenience. Within the app families are able to:
• Make payments for dinners, toast, trips, breakfast club and after school club
• Purchase shop items
• View transactions and bookings
School Money is offline during holidays, with bookings 'live' during term time only. We do not operate a refund system. All bookings are managed by the user. The user is responsible for all bookings and transactions.
Milk is available for Reception, Year 1 and Year 2 by registering via Cool Milk. Every child under the age of five is entitled to free school milk. Every child over the age of five is entitled to milk at a subsidised cost of around £20.00 per term. Simply register your child online.
At the beginning of the financial year money for resources will be allocated to Curriculum, Stationary and School Development cost centres. Stationary will be ordered centrally and allocated to classes. The purchasing of resources will be in line with the requirements of the School Improvement plan for the following year. Purchases will be discussed in staff meetings, SMT meetings and all requests must be placed on school order sheets and given to the Headteacher.
All staff must sign in and out using the InVentry system in the entrance. The school has an intruder alarm but staff must be conscious of where valuable items are placed. Computers have to be left in the classroom but should be covered and moved away from windows. Visitors should be asked to report to the office on arrival and sign-in. All external doors must be locked, access via the maindoor only controlled from the office.
In addition to that in the register, details are kept in the office both in file and on computer using SIMs and CPOMs. Each year parents are requested to complete a form of essential information - name, address, doctors, medical problems, emergency contacts etc., telephone numbers.

The school has a successful fund raising body FOSPS (Friends of St. Paul’s School) which meet regularly and hold fund raising activities. Any staff who wish to attend their meetings are welcome to do so.
Parents also help in school. Teachers invite parents into school to share their knowledge and skills in relation to the curriculum, topic being delivered. Information booklets are available for parent helpers. ALL parent/ volunteers must have DBS clearance.
All staff are encouraged to take advantage of professional development courses to improve their skills and knowledge. Subject leaders highlight available courses and staff use the Lancashire schools portal and the lancashire grid for learning to access upcoming events.

We endeavour to return lost items to the owner as soon as possible. At the end of each term unclaimed items are offered to parents free of charge as part of our uniform donations.
The school budget is limited. Don’t waste materials including heat and light. Please use door and light monitors.
Tidy classroom management reduces damage and waste to materials, particularly paper.
The school is inundated with requests to help charities. We have a policy to help one or two per year and details are given to staff when arrangements have been made. School has a commitment to sponsor a pupil at the EMCS (East Meru Community School) each month.

We are very proud of our good progress and provision for all our children.
