Break Time

Directed Play

A programme of teacher-led directed play encourages pupils to actively interact with their peers, engaging in games during their morning break time. Games and activities can include Quick cricket, circle games, parachute games, races, skipping and throwing and catching.

Lunch time

Our team of dedicated welfare assistants support pupils with games and activities on both KS1 and KS2 yards. Activities include supervising a construction area on the KS1 yard, playing hoola-hoops, double dutch skipping games, target sports and snakes and ladders.

Sports Leaders

Every Thursday Lunch-time, a team of Year 5 and 6 sports leaders provide planned games sessions for younger pupils across the school. Each leader has taken part in sports leader training and teaches these pupils to be confident, patient and enthusiastic in carrying out these activities.

Providing break-time support benefits pupils and teachers in many areas including: encouraging pupils to try new activities, promoting high expectations for behaviour, inclusion for SEND and pupils with an EHCP, promoting physical activity and improving social and emotional wellbeing.

You take full account of the need to develop pupils as young people and help them take their place in the wider world as valuable members of society.
