Art and Design is an inspiring and creative subject that encourages children to explore, experiment and express their own ideas. Through the study of Art and Design, children develop a range of practical skills using different materials, techniques and processes, including drawing, painting, sculpture and other creative media. Children learn about the work of a diverse range of artists, craftspeople and designers, using their work as inspiration for their own creativity. They are encouraged to observe closely, make choices, take creative risks and reflect upon and evaluate their own work and the work of others. Art and Design helps children to develop confidence, imagination and individuality, while fostering an appreciation of art and its important role in different cultures, communities and throughout history.
