Reading in Year 2
Your child has been given a book and a reading diary to bring home and read with an adult. Whenever your child reads please ensure the diary is dated and signed with any relevant comments. Books will be changed on Monday, Wednesday and Friday. They will need to keep their reading diary and book in their book bags to bring to school every day. The children will also have lots of opportunities to read and enjoy books throughout the week at school in class and in the library.
Each Friday one child will be chosen to be our ‘Star of the Week’ and two children will be invited to be in good work worship which takes place on a Friday at 2:30pm in the school hall. We will contact you to let you know who is taking part by text message.
The children will be doing PE on Mondays and Fridays this half term. Please ensure your child has their PE kit in school all week and that all items are clearly labelled.
Any letters or reply slips, which need to be returned, can be put in your child’s book bag. The children are expected to check them each morning and give things in before the morning register.
The children will have a weekly spelling test on a Friday. Children will be given spellings to learn on a Friday to take home and will be tested the following week.
Homework will be a piece of English and Maths but may also include topic work and research depending on what is being taught that week. It will be given out on a Friday and is expected to be handed in by the following Wednesday. All the class are registered on ‘MyMaths’ and SPAG.com which will be used for some homework tasks.
